Paradise on Earth

A collection of poems by David Morin

Becalmed

A glorious sunrise dawned over the China Sea

The cries of seabirds echoed over a trading ship heading north towards the coast of China

The ship's sails were filled with favourable winds or at least they had been for the past four days

It was midday. The skies were clear then suddenly the wind dropped to a slight breeze. The sails of the vessel ruffled. The ship slowed down to a standstill on a sea calm as a mill pond. The ship and crew were becalmed as they waited patiently for the wind to rise. Night fell as a golden sun sank ever so slowly into the China Sea
